It is with regret we announce that the April 4, 2020, Pre-Ramadan dinner is cancelled.

All programs at Imdadul Centre are cancelled until further notice, due to Covid-19 virus situation.

It is with regret that we are making this announcement but on the stipulations from The Canadian Ministry of Health and on the advice from our Khateeb that the Executive Board of Imdad hereby suspend Jum'uh Salaat and all other congregational prayers at the Imdadul Islamic Centre effective immediately until further notice. This is done in the abundance of caution and love for you and your family and the community at large to prevent the rapid spread of Covid-19 in our communities. We urge you to come together in love and support for each other and  in combating this pandemic that is impacting everyone. Let us all continue to pray for all our loved ones and our community at large in this difficult times and reach out to our sick and elderly with underlying respiratory illnesses as they are the most vulnerable. You may pray your Zohr and other Fard salaat at home and Allah SWT will bless you and reward you for your intentions. Please read, observe and follow the sign posted at the Imdad Centre as per the attached  and also at other Masjids and Islamic Centres so that we can help to curtail the spread of this virus. Thank you for your understanding

COVID-19 Update from Humber River Hospital Foundation:

This virus has presented some unprecedented challenges. And, the information that we have is evolving, changing and accumulating each and every day. One of the issues that I have been following is this:

HOW LONG CAN THE VIRUS SURVIVE ON SURFACES?

This is a question I have heard many times. Like you, I have heard a variety of answers to this question. I’m sure you’re concerned as I am with the potential of coming in contact with the virus by touching surfaces that haven’t been cleaned. Last night, I saw Dr. Ronald St. John, Public Health Agency, Canada, on Global TV answering the same question. His answer was: up to 24 hours on cardboard surfaces, up to 3 days on hard, non-porous surfaces; survival on porous surfaces (clothing) was the shortest expected time- he didn't give a range of hours. I checked with our Chief of Staff, Dr. Michael Gardam, an experienced infectious disease physician, again late yesterday afternoon to see if he had any new information that I could share with you.  This is what he said:

It is very confusing for people as we get different information from different sources. Of course, our knowledge will evolve as we gain more information about COVID-19.  We have communicated to staff, physicians and volunteers that Coronovirus (COVID-19) will live on most surfaces for several hours (approximately 2- 4 hours). Most general household cleaning solutions will kill it. The best method of preventing spread is to wash your hands frequently and keep them away from your face (especially your mouth and nose).
